Santa Lives

Jolly old St. Nicholas,

Lend your ear this way.

There are those who say you're not -

How'd they get that way?

So long as children's eyes light up,

So long as parents care,

So long as hope eternal springs...

We'll know that you are there.

So long as moon and stars look down

Across withe fields of snow

Will reindeer flash across the sky

One shiny nose aglow.

Jolly old St. Nicholas,

Lend your ear this way.

Love and hope and childlike faith

Will prove you're here to stay.

Christmas Snow

The Christmas snow worked magic

As it fell through the night

And made a world of wonder

So pure and soft and white.

The backyard's cloaked on ermine

With a little pine corsage,

And mountain in the front yard

Is really the garage.

I'm glad old Santa made it

Before the roads were closed..

Since now we'll all be housebound

Until the lane is 'dozed!

Old Christmas Returned

All you that to feasting and mirth are inclined,

Come here is good news for to pleasure your mind,

Old Christmas is come for to keep open house,

He scorns to be guilty of starving a mouse:

Then come, boys, and welcome for diet the chief,

Plum-pudding, goose, capon, minced pies, and roast beef.

The holly and ivy about the walls wind

And show that we ought to our neighbors be kind,

Inviting each other for pastime and sport,

And where we best fare, there we most do resort;

We fail not of victuals, and that of the chief,

Plum-pudding, goose, capon, minced pies, and roast beef.

All travellers, as they do pass on their way,

At gentlemen's halls are invited to stay,

Themselves to refresh, and their horses to rest,

Since that he must be Old Christmas's guest;

Nay, the poor shall not want, but have for relief,

Plum-pudding, goose, capon, minced pies, and roast beef.
